Suunto X9i, world’s smallest GPS Wristop Computer
Engineered for seamless performance with the TOPO! State Series, new Suunto X9i reigns as world’s smallest and lightest full-featured GPS Wristop Computer.
Suunto and National Geographic Maps at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market ‘05 unveilied the Suunto X9i GPS Wristop Computer. No bigger than a silver dollar, the wrist worn Suunto X9i is smaller, lighter and more convenient to carry and use than conventional GPS devices. Compatible with National Geographic TOPO! Software as well as other digital mapping services worldwide, the Suunto X9i plugs into home PCs, allowing backcountry enthusiasts to plan, download and analyze trips.
"The Suunto X9i wristop creates a new category of GPS units for on-the-go explorers," says Lauren Zimmerman, Trade Marketing Manager for Suunto North America. "It combines the world’s smallest GPS wristop computer with the industry’s leading topographic software, and it thoroughly delivers on Suunto and National Geographic’s reputation for accuracy and dependability."
Available in black or tan, the Suunto X9i includes an altimeter, barometer, 3D compass, chronograph and comprehensive GPS unit accurate to three feet. After downloading waypoints and routes from TOPO! software, the Suunto X9i displays direction and remaining distance to waypoints, current speed, distance traveled and estimated time of arrival. The Suunto X9i also records waypoints and routes for uploading to TOPO! software, allowing users to log and analyze completed trips as well as store and organize an unlimited number of waypoints. Keeping hassle to a minimum, a USB cable serves double-duty as both data link and battery charger. The Suunto X9i retails for $499 and will be available fall 2005 at authorized Suunto dealers nationwide. The TOPO! State Series retails for $99.95 and is available by state. Current TOPO! users will be able to download updates to provide compatibility with the Suunto X9i.
