Segway Rolls With Garmin Etrex legend Gps
Segway and Garmin International announced that Segway will offer customers a Garmin GPS package in its "Find Your Way With Segway" year-end promotion. Customers will receive a free Garmin eTrex Legend or eTrex Legend C GPS unit with the purchase of a new Segway® Human Transporter (HT), Cross-Terrain Transporter (XT), or Golf Transporter (GT) now thru January 6 th, 2006. This offer is only available at participating Segway Authorized Dealers in the United States while supplies last.
"With gas prices soaring, alternative transportation—such as the Segway HT—is becoming more and more attractive," said Klee Kleber, Segway Inc.’s vice president of marketing. "Whether you plan to use your Segway HT to commute to work or explore the outdoors, it’s great to have a GPS to know where you are, where you’ve been and where you’re headed. In addition to the free Garmin eTrex, customers receive a custom Segway HT mount and either MapSource® MetroGuide® (Legend) or MapSource City Select® (Legend C). Both products offer detailed maps of roads and pedestrian thoroughfares throughout the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico—with locations of millions of points of interest—like restaurants, hotels, ATMs, movie theaters, and other attractions. Users can load and display portions of this data directly onto their eTrex Legend or Legend C via a PC.
The eTrex Legend features a monochrome display with 8MB of internal memory for maps. The eTrex Legend C has a easy-to-read color display with 24MB of internal memory, and also features turn-by-turn auto-routing—which gives Segway HT riders detailed directions on how to get to their destination. Both units can also display important information like speed, heading, distance and path traveled, and elapsed time, as well as TracBack®—a feature that automatically guides you back to the beginning of your trip.
Existing owners can purchase the Garmin GPS units with software and mounts from Segway Authorized Dealers for $399 and $499 for the eTrex Legend and Legend C, respectively.
