Navizon to include exciting new GeoBlogging technology
Mexens Technology, the creators of Navizon, announced today the launch of the Geotag, a new feature available immediately to all members of the Navizon network. The Geotag allows members to post information based upon a specific geographic location, such as a restaurant or business, thus creating the world’s first geographically based blogging system. This feature reinforces the idea of information submitted by the people and for the people that is at the epicenter of the Navizon philosophy.
"Our membership has been doubling each month, creating a powerful network of over 10,000 members. We have people mapping their areas constantly in most major metropolitan areas, and in more countries than we can count. This shared information is at the very center of what makes Navizon a powerful tool," said Cyril Houri, founder of Navizon.
The Geotag allows members to post opinions about businesses, restaurants and landmarks, thus creating a completely new way to share geographical information. Once this information has been recorded, each time a new member enters that geographic area, the Geotag information will automatically appear as an icon on their wireless device.
Navizon’s software is currently compatible with Windows mobile devices and cell phones using the Symbian operating system, and is free for non-commercial use.
The innovative Navizon software works by triangulating signal measurements from cell towers and Wi-Fi access points. Once a map of the wireless landscape is created, members can share it with the rest of the Navizon network, thereby allowing users to enjoy a software-only positioning system, completely independent of carrier. Navizon also makes available the same databases built by members equipped with GPS to all of its members, free of charge. "Once a member with a GPS enabled device has mapped the wireless landscape of an area, everyone else within the Navizon network can benefit from it," said Houri.
"With features like the Geotag, Buddy Tracker and Local Search, Navizon is becoming a fantastic mobile companion," said Houri. "Like a web browser helps users locate information within the world of cyberspace, with the help of these new innovations, Navizon helps users obtain information shared by all its members and navigate geographical locations all around the world."
