Garmin Forerunner 205 and Forerunner 305, a new look for outdoor fitness
Garmin, today introduced the Forerunner 205 and Forerunner 305, the next generation of Garmin’s popular GPS-enabled fitness product line. The sleek and stylish Forerunner 205 and Forerunner 305 provide outdoor enthusiasts with real-time information that is designed to help them reach their personal fitness goals. The Forerunner was announced at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) where it was an honoree at the 2006 Innovation Design and Engineering Awards in the personal electronics category.
“The new Forerunners are ideal for any outdoor activity – from a leisurely stroll to a competitive marathon,” said Gary Kelley, Garmin’s vice president of marketing. “No matter what your activity or fitness level, the Forerunner gives users immediate feedback on the information they’re most interested in such as calories burned, distance traveled, pace, or heart rate. The Forerunner also has navigation features so you can always make it back to your starting point.”
Garmin forerunner 305 will be unveiled at Ces 2006
Garmin seems set to reveal the new Forerunner 305 Gps model as reported on expositors page on Ces 2006 web site
The Forerunner 305 continuously monitors your heart rate, speed, distance, pace and calories burned so you can train smarter, more effectively.
The 305 looks much more like a real watch and may even contain its antenna in the angled bottom half of the watch
As reported on Sportim Weblog, "Garmin has started to use better GPS chip sets from SiRF and this facilitates smaller sized batteries and improved GPS signal reception to fit a watch sized GPS" and antenna area is supposed to be located in that smaller bended part with the Garmin name. This makes sense since you would like the antenna to face towards the sky while using it as a sport watch.
