Soundsolution announced TORQ N100 the first PDA phone with an onboard receiver allowing it to support Traffic Message Channel (TMC) functions in available countries when using popular GPS applications. When traveling, the N100 can receive regularly updated reports of the traffic conditions ahead and so alert drivers to problems (such as sudden traffic congestion) that could cause delays on a planned route. TMC’s advanced warning system enables users to make on the fly changes to their journey, avoiding traffic jams and holdups and giving them an advantage to reach their destinations on time.

The N100 is equipped with a large (2.8") touch screen display ideal for using fingertip navigation controls  while the large storage capacity lets users store roadmaps for multiple countries and destinations directly on the device. Location SMS integrates GPS and phone functions to enable users to send SMS text messages including their precise GPS coordinate to any other SMS compatible phone or device.

Thales officially released the new Magellan RoadMate 860T portable vehicle navigation system, available in May at US $799.

The Magellan RoadMate 860T provides real-time traffic capabilities so drivers can easily gain detour routes to get to their destination faster and a text-to-speech function (SayWhere) that speaks the street name for upcoming maneuvers.
The new Magellan RoadMate 860T also is equipped with 10 GB of memory for storing multimedia files so they can enjoy music and view photos. Navigating is easy with the large, 3.5-inch, high-resolution daylight visible TFT color touch screen and the option of a 2D or 3-D "bird’s eye" map view.

RAC Trackstar, a leading GPS based stolen vehicle tracking provider, launches its Category 5 stolen vehicle tracking system, RAC Trackstar 5.
The system automatically recognises the authorised driver of the vehicle by means of a Driver Authentication Device. This, together with the vehicle’s keys, enables the Trackstar 5 system to recognise the vehicle’s use as authorised.
This means that if an unauthorised person attempts to drive the vehicle, a silent alert is sent to our Secure Control Centre and the tracking activated.

The Control Centre will contact the customer, track the vehicle and liaise with the local police authorities to recover it.

Today Garmin announces the new StreetPilot c330 Asian Americas version. This GPS device allows North American motorists who speak Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Taiwanese to experience the convenience and safety of GPS satellite navigation in their native tongue. Voice prompted directions, menus and text are given in one of five Asian languages. The Garmin c330 Asian Americas is the only GPS in North America that offers an Asian language user interface.

Only a few days ago, I wrote about next release of MapQuest Navigator a new on line navigation service for mobile devices.

Today, I discovered a demo video about MapQuest Navigator that shows a preview of its features.

This breakthrough wireless service will launch in June with innovative features that, for the first time, allow parents to directly manage their family’s wireless experience
Unlike traditional family plans that focus on shared minutes, Disney Mobile will offer a comprehensive, family-tailored service. It will provide customizable tools to balance kids cell phone use with controls that allow parents to manage family phone use and help teach kids responsible use. In addition, Disney Mobile will come equipped with all the things tweens and teens are looking for in a cell phone today – from a camera to messaging to popular ring tones and content.
